Who We Are
BC Advantage Funds ("Advantage") is a venture capital corporation that invests in early-stage life science, technology and clean technology companies located in British Columbia. Our investors receive a 30% refundable tax credit from the BC Government on investments of up to $200,000 per year and the ability to redeem their shares at their net asset value five years following the date that we invest their funds into eligible small businesses.
Advantage is the largest venture capital corporation in British Columbia.
In 2006, we received the Canadian Venture Capital Association 'Deal of the Year' Award for achieving the highest realized return on a single investment (23.4X return on our investment in Aspreva Pharmaceuticals) of any venture capital firm in Canada. Furthermore, in the three years prior to its redemption (2006,2007, 2008), our Advantage Life Science Fund I provided the highest 5-year returns of any retail fund in Canada (Source: GlobeFund).
Advantage has raised approximately $95 million since inception and the BC government has provided Advantage with an annual tax credit allocation of $10 million. |
