BC Advantage Funds Appoints CFO

Vancouver, September 13, 2004 - BC Advantage Funds (VCC) Ltd. ("Advantage") announced today that it has appointed Tanner W. Philp as Chief Financial Officer and Fund Analyst.

Frank Holler, CEO of Advantage, said "Tanner Philp is a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience working with venture capitalists and managed funds clients. We are delighted to have attracted someone with Tanner's credentials and experience to Advantage. As CFO he will be responsible for oversight of financial and reporting operations and he also has the experience and background to work closely with our current and prospective portfolio companies."

Mr. Philp was most recently a partner in a U.S. based venture capital firm specializing in public market cross-border financings for early stage companies. In this capacity, he was active in all stages of the financing process, including business plan evaluation, regulatory compliance, exchange listing and raising capital. He was previously with KPMG London (UK) where he specialized in providing services to managed funds clients. Mr. Philp obtained his Chartered Accountant designation with KPMG in Vancouver.
