BC Advantage Portfolio Company Completes Financing

Advantage Venture Fund NAV Increases $0.56 to $9.90

Vancouver, July 4, 2007 - BC Advantage Funds (VCC) Ltd. announced today that its privately held portfolio company, Phero Tech International, completed a Series B financing. Based on the terms of this financing, the estimated fair market value of the Advantage Venture Fund's $1.1 million investment in Phero Tech increased to $4.5 million which represented an unrealized gain to the Advantage Venture Fund of approximately $3.4 million. This gain, together with other events, resulted in the Net Asset Value per share of the Advantage Venture Fund increasing by $0.56 per share to $9.90.

Phero Tech, a spin-out from Simon Fraser University, uses insect pheromones and other technology to provide non-toxic pest control in home and garden, forestry and agriculture applications. Phero Tech is a leading supplier of non-toxic pest control to the U.S. Forest Service, the B.C. Ministry of Forests and private forestry companies. Recently, Phero Tech has significantly increased its revenues through the development and marketing of an effective non-toxic repellent of the Mountain Pine Beetle. Consumers are purchasing this repellent to protect stands of high-value trees in golf courses, cemeteries, city parks, homes and resorts.
